30-Day Song Challenge Day 5: Song(s) That Have A New Meaning To You Every Time You Hear It

Last post was depressing because it was about sad songs. It was difficult to pick songs for this post because how do you define “new meaning”? Does it relate to personal experiences, where I hear a song and it reminds me of two very different times or moments in my life? Or does the song have so much figurative meanings in it that it refers to a lot of things? I have no idea.

Anyways, I picked an unusual set of songs for this topic. I picked songs that could imply different meanings to a person’s life. The two songs that don’t apply to this is “Yumekui” and “Chocolate.” I picked those two songs out of random because I think about a lot of things when I listen to them.

“Clock Strikes” By One Ok Rock

Time is such a powerful, valuable entity. Sometimes time is on your side, and sometimes it isn’t.

“Complicated” By Avril Lavigne

I post a lot of Avril songs. It is because her songs are relatable and she is like the only artist that understood my adolescent life. Also, “Complicated” is the best word to describe life. It is complicated, nothing is ever simple.

“Yumekui (ユメクイ)” By Ai Otsuka

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I think out of all the songs I picked, this song does change in meaning every time I listen to it.

“Navy Tomorrow” Sung by Nobunaga Shimazaki as Haruka Nanase (Free!)

No one knows what tomorrow brings, but we should look forward to it rather than fear it.

“Chocolate” By The 1975

“Chocolate,” what does that even mean? I don’t think the song literally talks about the delicious and sweet dessert.

Anyways, Happy Monday!

  1. I love how you have complicated by Avril Lavigne. When I was 10 I recorded myself singing to it to prove my sister that I could sing. I couldn’t sing. I was horrible. But when we found the recording 5 years later we were literally on the ground in tears with laughter.

Thank you for bringing back this memory! 🙂
