So I came across this cute manga called I’m around thirty and finally in love. It’s a story about adults in their 30s finding love even if they are inexperienced.
Yuumi Yamamoto is a 28-year-old woman who has no interest in relationships despite having many suitors. Kanata Inoue is a 32-year-old man who has zero experience when it comes to women. Yet when Inoue sees a picture of Yuumi, he falls madly in love with her as it was “love at first sight.” Their mutual friend, Aki, decides to set them up together which results with Yuumi and Inoue hitting it off. However, the two are very shy and are still learning how to express their emotions towards each other.
Each chapter is set up in an episodic format, usually focusing on a date between Yuumi and Inoue. We, as readers, become spectators to their relationship. As Inoue and Yuumi are learning about each other, we are also learning about them and how they view relationships. We are witnessing every step of their romance and it’s super adorable because they are beginners when it comes to love. Whenever they make a “mistake,” they would feel like it’s the end of the world, but in reality, it was just a minor misunderstanding.
This series reminds me of Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku because it’s about adults who are learning about the language of love. However, the only difference between the two series is that one of them focuses on an otaku couple and the other one doesn’t.
