Warning: Wet Sand is for mature audiences (18+ and over) only.

The manhwa series Wet Sand just got steamier in volume two. Wet Sand Vol 2 was released on September 23rd, 2025, with an orange cover featuring Joseph “Jo” Landi. The manhwa also includes a mini poster of Jo, like in volume one. Volume 1 had a handsome poster of Ian Shin (Shin Youngwoo).

A Synopsis of Volume 2

In volume two, Ian and Jo slowly become more acquainted with one another. They spend an intimate night watching the stars together on the rooftop. Jo’s feelings for Ian grew, which eventually led to a one-night stand together.

Meanwhile, TJ (Oh Taejoon) is keeping an eye on Ian and his whereabouts. He has a strong interest in learning about Ian’s relationship with Jo. TJ desires to rekindle his relationship with Ian and wants Ian to return to the life of crime. However, Ian has other plans. Ian dreams of escaping that lifestyle and plans to flee the country.

Exploring Sexual Passion & Tension Among Men

Wet Sand Vol 2 explores the relationship dynamics among Jo, Ian, and TJ. In this volume, readers see Jo struggle to decipher his feelings for Ian. He contemplates whether his feelings are romantic or platonic. After their one night together, Jo hoped for a more serious relationship. However, Ian didn’t want to seek anything further from their relationship. It appears that Ian’s intention with Jo is to satisfy Jo’s desires, but also to break Jo’s heart so that Jo doesn’t expect more from their interactions.

Furthermore, TJ and Ian’s relationship is a bit concerning. There are traces of a toxic relationship between them. They appear to be “friends with benefits,” satisfying each other’s sexual desires. They aren’t officially together, but there is undeniable chemistry between the two. In this volume, TJ seems concerned about how Jo and Ian are getting closer together; thus, he spies on the two using his fellow gang members. At the end of this volume, TJ engages in relations with Ian to establish his dominance over him and to remind Ian that he cannot break their bond.

Volume 2 has a bit more sexual tension and passion among the three characters. The sexual acts show the men’s undeniable lust and desire. TJ and Ian have a complicated history, as revealed through the flashbacks shown to readers. As for Ian and Jo, there is some innocence to their friendship. It’s in the early stages of a relationship, as they tend to spend time together talking about each other.

Flashbacks Are Effective For Character Development in Wet Sand

In the first volume, I didn’t like how flashbacks are introduced. There’s no narrative text bubble to indicate a change of setting except for the page color. White pages indicate the present day, and the black pages represent past events. This trend continues in this volume; however, there are smoother transitions, indicating when a character is reflecting on the past.

Wet Sand Vol 2 continues its trend of being a steamy hot romance among men. While the first volume introduces our main characters, this volume specifically highlights the relationship between Ian and Jo, further exploring their feelings. In addition, we learn more about the backstory of how TJ and Ian ended up in a gang and a glimpse into their relationship dynamics.

As a reader, I expect volume three to have more romantic entanglements and sexual tension among the three male leads. You can buy Wet Sand Vol 2 at your local bookstore.
