Suitor Armor Vol 2 (2025)
By Purpah
Publisher: Ten Speed Graphic
In the age of artificial intelligence and robotic technology, it’s great to see a whimsical fantasy story revamping these modern concepts. With over 144 million readers worldwide, Purphah’s Suitor Armor has been adapted into a graphic novel, with two volumes (Ch 1-38) released so far.
Suitor Armor is mainly a love story between a female fairy and a hunk of armor, but there is more to this series than just romance. Suitor Armor centers on self-discovery and finding one’s voice in a world that is filled with prejudices, specifically against fairies.
The title, Suitor Armor, is a play on words for “suit of armor.” Linguistically, armor is a protective metal covering worn by knights, and a suitor refers to a man pursuing a romantic relationship with a woman. The title is suitable given that the story is based in medieval times, portraying Modeus as a “knight in shining armor.”
Lucia Chauvet Wants to be Part of the Fairy World

In the eyes of humans, fairies are seen as monsters. As a child, Lucia Chauvet was taken in by the Goldborne household and became the lady-in-waiting for the next queen, Lady Kirsi Goldborne. Lucia is a fairy. She hides her identity while living alongside humans. Yet, after befriending a suit of armor, she slowly goes on a journey of self-discovery.
The recent two volumes establish Lucia’s lifestyle and provide an in-depth look into her fears and insecurities. Lucia feels alone as she cannot openly share her identity with others. She lives a double life. She must bind her fairy wings to her body so that she can wear human clothing. Lucia lives in fear because she believes that if humans find out her identity, she will face persecution.
When Lucia witnesses Norrix Gorelight use magic to bring a suit of armor to life though, it inspired her to learn about her fairy heritage. The author, Purphah, enjoys telling stories about identity and relationships. Purphah wants to connect with their readers who may also be undergoing self-discovery journeys or reinventing identities. Although we only get a glimpse of her storyline in the first two volumes, Lucia’s character development is something to look forward to as the series progresses.
Modeus is Modern Robotic Technology & Artificial Intelligence

As for the other main protagonist, Modeus is mysterious. There isn’t much information about him except that he is Lucia’s bodyguard and was created by Norrix Gorelight. He is robot-like, only following the commands of his creator, but he slowly develops a personality of his own.
Modeus develops an attachment to Lucia. For now, his interest in Lucia is an appreciation of her, but there are hints that it is something more. Lucia and Modeus’ relationship is similar to other storylines involving humans and robots, where inanimate objects obtain emotions and intellect when interacting with humans. Arguably, this relationship is a commentary on artificial intelligence and advanced robotic technology. Modeus is pretty much a “robot” that happens to be learning about human life and what it means to have a soul.
Suitor Armor is currently published online via Webtoons, so if you want to read ahead of print publication, you can. Yet, unlike the online format, the printed version also features exclusive content, including behind-the-scenes footage and a bonus chapter.
As a reader, I am intrigued by the main storyline involving Lucia and Modeus’ relationship. I also like how the storyline presents strong themes such as self-discovery and navigating against discrimination. However, the art style feels more western cartoonish, which didn’t catch my attention. I’m probably not the ideal reader of this series, but if you like fantasy, magic, and medieval lore, this is your cup of tea.
The second volume of Suitor Armor was released on May 20, 2025. You can purchase it online or at your local bookstores.
