Lyn’s Thoughts: “Someday, I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us” – #12
On Sunday, my friend and I decided to spontaneously join a drive-around protest for the #blacklivesmatter movement and the fight for justice and equality. Internally, we regretted not going to the Golden Gate Bridge protest on Saturday, but we were concerned about the COVID situation and we don’t really like crowds.
However, we were able to do a drive-by march around Balboa Park area. It was pretty cool to drive around and see all the protestors marching together. Yet what was most touching is when we drove around the neighborhood and saw people coming out of their houses and shops to wave at us, and the people that came out of their homes were senior citizens. The fact that they came outside to wave means that they would stand alongside us if they were able to.
While in this drive-by protest line, we ended up seeing the protest around Balboa Park and CCSF, which was filled with hundreds of people. It was pretty epic to see.
