Lyn’s Thoughts: “The sun will set for you” – #10
George Floyd.
I don’t think I need to reiterate what’s been said about this incident because it’s all over the news and social media. And it’s tough that this is going on while a pandemic is happening.
I may not be African-American, but I am a colored person. A Filipino-American. And even being a Filipino-American has its own struggles and stereotypes. There were moments when I was unwelcomed or felt like an outsider in this country. I never want my skin color to be a factor that dictates my life but I am aware that it will always be an issue if people don’t change their values and mindsets.
I never marched in a protest but that doesn’t mean I don’t stand alongside them. I have my own means of making changes and that’s through education, teaching, and writing. If I can shape the minds of the youth then there’s a possibility that I can change the way they view the world and that they can pass that knowledge along to others. It’s similar to how I write in my blog. I’m sharing my thoughts in hopes that you think about what I have to say and make positive changes that are productive and effective.
You can rebuild a house, a store, a car, and even a company, but you cannot rebuild a human life.
-Lyn
This is my way of changing the world. It doesn’t look like much, but one day, it will be enough.
And the sun will set for you
The sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in gray
And the sun will set for you– Linkin Park
Sidenote: My friend shared this clip by Trevor Noah that I thought is worth sharing.
