My Very First Pokemon Game EVER!

So I just wanted to say that I never played a Pokemon game in my entire life until I got Pokemon Sword for Nintendo Switch. The reason being is that my parents didn’t want to buy a gaming console because it’s expensive and a distraction from my studies as I was growing up. However, now that I am older, I can do what I want; but I can totally see why my parents thought that video games are a distraction.

I bought this game on December 22, 2019, which is about a little over a month after it was first released and I finished the game on Jan 8, 2020. I spent my entire winter vacation catching all 400 Pokemon and I made my sister berry hunt for me when I was lazy to do it. I even joined random strangers in Max Raid battles just so I can complete my Pokedex. I traded pokemon with my friend who played Pokemon Shield just so I can get the exclusives from the game. Now that I have completed the entire storyline and the Pokedex, I am now just randomly getting more supplies and treasures and also organizing my Pokemon, deciding which ones to keep and which ones to trade based on the IV levels. Before I didn’t care much for that since I just wanted to complete my Pokedex but now since the expansion passes are coming out later this year, I want to prepare!

Speaking of the expansion passes, I was really excited when I heard about them. I woke up around 7 am when my friend texted me about them and I even told my sister and she basically said to me, “OMG, your life is over.” And she’s right. It will be once these passes are released.

I realized that I get obsessed with a video game; I talk about it nonstop amongst my friends even when they aren’t playing. It’s probably because my mind wanders to the point where I’m thinking about strategies and planning out what I’ll do next in the game when I’m not physically playing it.

Pokemon Sword is the third game I completed. The first game I completed was The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass and then Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The next game I will be playing is Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I never played any of the games from that franchise and so hopefully, it will be fun.

  1. You could also try breeding to have the perfect iv and nature pokemon 😉

I also was a bit uncertain when I first had to play a game of the Fire Emblem franchise as some mechanics felt scary… but in the end it was lot of fun. I hope you also enjoy it

  2. Congrats on finishing your first ever pokemon game. Sadly, you missed a lot of these during childhood but it’s not too late to play the previous generations you know.

I myself had the chance to play the games using emulators only (and heck, I was already in the college that time) then I was able to buy myself a Nintendo 3DS when I got my job.

I’d personally say that Pokemon is something that keeps everyone young at heart. 😁
