Lyn’s Thoughts: Something happened.

Today, I almost could have been severely injured or died.

After going shopping with a friend, I went on the light rail to go home. I decided to stand at the end of the train because I didn’t want to bother walking down the aisle while the train was moving to look for a seat. I had to leave the senior citizens/ disable chairs open for those that need it, but keep in mind though, there were four people, two on each side, two older Asian ladies on one side and two men, one young guy and one older man, on the other side.

When the train stopped at the next stop, an old lady in a wheelchair who had one leg entered in and she needed to have access to the disabled seating area. The train started moving and no one would budge. Even an older white man who was standing asked if she needed help and he asked the men on one side to get off so that the chair lifted up and make space for her. The men didn’t budge and the old lady said it’s okay I can handle it. After that man left, the old lady pulled out a hunter knife and smiled at the two men that they better get up or else she’s gonna stab them. The younger guy saw it and left but the older man didn’t budge but then “reasoned” with her. Everyone saw this and “slowly” started to move to the other side.

In my head, I was like “F***!” I was at the wrong place and at the wrong time and I just had to be standing in the corner near them. It was a triangle with the older guy sitting in the disabled area, the old lady in the wheelchair, and then me. I wanted to immediately walk away but there were people that were in my way and so I had to wait until they all moved out of the way. The old lady in the wheelchair was blocking the aisle too.

Luckily I was able to leave, while the guy in that seat was reasoning to her and he looked at me and was aware I wanted to leave too.

The moral of this story, if it’s a disabled seating area, you have to move, even if you qualified to sit in that area when you see someone in a wheelchair, you should be considerate—you have legs, they don’t. I’m just annoyed at the people that didn’t move and I was scared for my life because of that old lady and her hunter knife (It was a huge blade. She just need to stab someone and the blade could be a few inches in). Yet I knew why she carried it because someone could rob her but at the same time, WE SHOULDN’T BE LIVING IN A WORLD LIKE THIS.

  7. I know what you mean. It’s telling when people have knives and the likes on their person for their own safety.
    I feel like in this situation that man should have moved seeing that the lady was in a wheelchair. But I don’t think it was right for her to take the knife out either. :/
