Lyn’s Adventures: Golden State Warriors Parade

On Thursday, my sister and I attended the Warriors Parade at Lake Merrit in Oakland, CA. This was my very first parade and I’m glad it’s a Warriors one.

If you haven’t known already, I am a huge basketball fan and due to my sister’s influence, I became a fan of the Warriors. She made me go to many Warriors games over the years and they grew on me.

This season the Golden State Warriors won the 2016-2017 NBA Championship against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last season, they lost against Cleveland despite having a tremendous regular season with a 73-9 record. However, despite that bump in the road, they made that story old by winning this year’s championship.

They were under a lot of scrutiny for signing Kevin Durant and are still considered “super villains” to some, but the reason as to why I like the Warriors is how they play. They play like a team with sacrifice and unselfishness.

We stood where the rally was being held because we wanted to hear their speeches. I think next time if they win again, we will probably stand on the sidelines while the procession is occurring and leave early. Yet overall, I had a lot of fun. 🙂

  1. How exciting! I live in Austin and went to the university here, and had a chance to see Kevin Durant play during his one year at UT. I’m always rooting for him, and I already liked the Warriors anyway (going back to the Run TMC in the 90’s!), so I was so happy they won this year!
