30 Day Asian Drama Challenge Day 29: A Drama That Made You Cry From Laughter?

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (2010)
Directed By: Yasuharu Ishii, Yuki Ozawa, and Ryutaro Kawashima
For this post, I’m going to have to pick the Japanese drama adaptation of Tomoko Hayakawa’s shoujo manga, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, or The Wallflower. I haven’t read the manga, but I did watch the anime during high school because of a friend’s recommendation and I loved it. There’s this silliness to the anime that the live-action adapted and it isn’t realistic. In fact, the acting in the live-action is so cheesy but cute.
A horror loving, socially awkward, and “ugly” girl, Sunako lives with four flower boys. Sunako’s aunt asks the four guys to do an extreme make-over on Sunako in exchange for free rent. If the guys fail to transform Sunako, they will have to pay the rent for previous months or vacate the home.
Both the anime and the live-action are fun and hilarious. So definitely check it out!
