A Millionaire’s First Love (2006)

Directed By Kim Tae-kyun

I’m going to have to pick the first Asian film that a friend recommended to me. It’s called A Millionaire’s First Love.

Kang Jae-kyung (Hyun Bin) is a spoiled rich kid and is set to inherit his grandfather’s fortune on his 18th birthday. However, he soon finds out that in order to obtain the inheritance, he must transfer to a countryside school in Gangwon Province and graduate, or else, he will only get 0.1% of the fortune. While at the school, he befriends a girl who has a terminal illness, Choi Eun-hwan (Lee Yeon-hee) and she taught him how to be humble and compassionate.

This drama made me cry and it’s pretty obvious why. If you like A Walk to Remember or The Fault in Our Stars, you will like A Millionaire’s First Love.
