Flower Boy Ramen Shop (2011)
Directed By: Jung Jung-hwa
It’s been a long time so my memory is vague, but it’s about a woman surrounded by cute guys working at a ramen shop.
Back in 2011, this Korean drama was really hyped up on Dramafever and I was really excited to watch it because of the flower boy male cast (and also the story is set at a ramen shop and I love ramen). I remembered I stayed up until 2 am to finish this drama despite having a 9 am class to go to the next day. When I was done with it, I was mad at the ending because the second lead was a much more suitable match for the main girl instead of the first leading man. Cha Chi-soo (Jung Il-woo) is a bit too immature and childish and always got jealous over Yang Eun-bi (Lee Chung-ah) and Choi Kang-jyuk’s (Lee Ki-woo) friendship. To be honest, I don’t think Yang Eun-bi and Cha Chi-soo’s relationship would last due to his stubbornness and immaturity. At the end, I felt really bad for Choi Kang-jyuk because he was literally the epitome of the perfect man: charming, helpful, and kind. Yet, in the end, he didn’t get the girl.
It’s up to you if you want to watch this drama, but I was personally disappointed in the ending because I don’t think the main leads should be together. Yang Eun-bi and Cha Chi-soo had better chemistry in my opinion.
