Loot Crate: LynLynSays’ Dream Crate
Last week, Loot Crate contacted me if I’d be interested in a little project they are doing. Initially, I thought it was a joke because no one actually uses the “Contact Me” form on my blog and to me, a company like Loot Crate wouldn’t possibly look at this blog in a million years, but I was wrong. The email wasn’t a lie and I fangirled a little bit (I admit that). If you haven’t heard of Loot Crate, check it out. It’s a monthly subscription box service that provides its customers with some fun and awesome geek, gamer, and pop culture merchandise.
The E-mail that they sent me asked if I would be interested in creating a blog post answering this question, “If I were to create my very own Dream Crate, what would I put in it?” Basically, I’m creating my Christmas wishlist before Black Friday. 😛
I actually put a lot of thought into this crate in regards to the theme and the items I would put in it (to some degree) which I think others might also like. So I hope you enjoy what I suggest.
Choosing A Loot Crate:
I had a tough time picking the type of crate I wanted to do because I have a lot of interests: American pop culture, comic books, and anime. However, I decided to stick with anime because a majority of my readers are anime fans and I tend to write a lot about anime and manga on this blog.
Theme: Metamorphosis
The theme I picked is Metamorphosis because it’s pretty relevant to everyone and is an important theme in plenty of anime. Everyone goes through a metamorphosis (or even several) within their lives. Whether it’s those angsty teenage years known as puberty, your 20s where you are on a journey of self-discovery, or in your 40s when life decides to throw a curve ball and you have to make some changes, a metamorphosis is always happening.

6. Sailor Moon
She was my role model when I was younger, and I used to pretend that I was Sailor Moon and do all those weird hand gestures and recite her catchphrases. Usagi Tsukino literally undergoes a transformation from an ordinary junior high school to the warrior of love and justice, Sailor Moon. She has a tendency to be a crybaby but she gains the courage to fight against whoever threatens her friends or loved ones.
Item: Bandai Tamashii Nations: Tamashii Buddies Sailor Moon “Sailor Moon” Action Figure
Sailor Moon is a classic anime and if I ever invest in an anime figure collection, it would be Sailor Moon. I would want the entire Sailor Senshi squad in Tamashii Buddies form.
5. Kiki’s Delivery Service
Kiki is a great example of a young girl undergoing a metamorphosis. She reaches the age where she must travel aboard alone and learn a trade as part of her witch training. Kiki’s Delivery Service is a coming of age film and provides life lessons of becoming your own person as well as the struggles of growing up and being in a new environment out of your comfort zone.
Item: Kiki’s Delivery Service: Catch! (Jigsaw Puzzle 108 Piece)
Life is like a puzzle. We are always trying to figure out what to do next or questioning our personal choices. Each puzzle piece is a moment in our lives and we are trying to complete it to see the bigger picture—our life’s purpose.
Also, I put this item in because every box needs a nonsensical item, and mine is a jigsaw puzzle.
4. Kuroko no Basuke
Basketball is a team sport, but some hard-headed and arrogant basketball players think otherwise. It takes Kuroko and the rest of the Seirin High School team to teach their opponents the value of friendship and humbleness.
Item: Tetsuya #2 Kuroko’s Basketball Plush
Okay, my item doesn’t have any of the main characters, but Tetsuya #2 is the cutest anime dog ever. And I wouldn’t mind cuddling with this plushie after a long day.
3. Barakamon
A majority of the anime I picked focuses on a young adult’s metamorphosis. I picked the anime Barakamon because it deals with a 23-year-old man, Seishuu Handa, who still has a lot of growing up to do, and he is the prime example that even adults have moments of epic transformations. In this anime, he reaches a low point in his calligraphy career by punching a well-respected critic, and as punishment, he recuperates at a small village.
Item: Ink like you mean it! Spiral Notebook
I really loved this design and wanted the print in some form. To me, it makes sense to have this as a notebook since the main character of Barakamon is a calligrapher. Plus, wouldn’t you want to record all the memories, emotions, and what not in your life with this notebook?
2. Pokemon
It’s Pokemon. They evolve. Ash Ketchum traveled around the globe learning about all different types of Pokemon (and he still hasn’t aged). So on a mental level, he matured towards some degree, but physically, not really.
Item: Pokemon: All Over Sublimated Print Snapback (Cap, Hat, Headwear)
Sometimes the perfect outfit can really transform a person’s confidence for the better. For example, a snapback like this one would make me feel hella swag.
1. Digimon Adventure/ Digimon Adventure tri.
I think Digimon Adventure is the primary example of my theme metamorphosis. The characters of Digimon Adventure undergo external and internal obstacles that they must overcome. Also, those crests that represent their personalities are traits that we should have as individuals—they are qualities that make us better people.
Item: Digimon Adventure Tri. old style Mug
My reasoning behind this item is I really like the design and I need a new mug.
So that’s my Dream Crate. I hope you like my choices and if you could create your own Dream Crate box, what would you put in it? Let me know in the comments!
Lastly, check out Loot Crate to see their latest and past box theme subscriptions. 🙂

I love your theme! Lyn-sama and I both put a Sailor Moon item and a Kiki’s Delivery Service item in our dream crates. I’m so moved. Great minds think alike! 🙂 Although I went wayyy deep into the “dream” part, lol.
I think the hat is my favorite item, but the dog is cute too.

Kiki, Sailor Moon, and Pokemon?! I’d totally buy this crate! With Viz’s rerelease of the hit magical girl series, I’ve been practice my own “planet power” transformations, huehue. And what a neat experience with the company–Hopefully they’ll extend and do more partnership things with you, if you’re into it and all!

Because I don’t want to steal LitaKino’s thunder, I’ll go with Uranus. Strong, distant, yet affectionate~ I take it you’re a Moon Girl?

I know of Saturn, but very little. Once I watch S to its entirety, perhaps I’ll be able to get to know her better~
