What I Think About Fanfiction
While I was browsing through my WordPress reads, I came across an article linked to one of The Geek Girl Senshi’s Fandom Friday posts. The article is “Anne Jamison: U of U professor and author explains Why Fanfiction Is Taking Over the World.”
I thought this was an interesting read and I kind of agree with it. Fanfiction is a form of literature that should be taken seriously. When it comes to reading a book, there is a special relationship being created between the author and reader. The author sets up the plot and characters within the book, but it is up to the reader to bring the story to life using his or her imagination. Therefore, whenever I read fanfiction, I consider it one person’s interpretation or reading of the original content.

I do a ton of fanfiction but only on my mind, the reason being I do not agree with the ending or some parts of the plotline because they don’t make sense or simply implausible.

“Only on my mind” does that mean you imagine it in your head? You create your own fanfiction?

Yes, and only when I don’t agree with the plotline…. unrealistic, implausible, and does not make sense. But I don’t write it down. I merely imagine how the story would turn out if x, y, and z happened instead of a, b, and c.
