30-Day Challenge Day 10: Song(s) That Annoy You

Okay, I have very good reason as to why I should put these songs on this list. The first reason is that the radio killed it for me. They were over played too many times that I wished it died. The second reason is my friends killed these songs for me, and I can never enjoy them ever again.

“Wake Me Up When September Ends” By Green Day

September is my favorite month, but this song was constantly played over and over again on radios and music channels. As a result, I couldn’t enjoy it anymore, and now find the song annoying to listen to. I understand that this song was played during a hypersensitive time for Americans because this song came out during the time of Hurricane Katrina. So I understand the significance and legacy it places within people’s hearts. However, I just can’t stand the fact that it was constantly being over played to the point that it seems the song lost its significance for me.

“Love Me Like You Do” By Ellie Goulding

Even when the movie, 50 Shades of Grey, was not in theaters anymore, they still played it every hour on the radio.

“CaramellDansen” By Caramell

This was pretty popular back in my high school. Yeah…no.

“Meet Me Halfway” By The Black Eyed Peas

One of my friends would sing this song everyday at school, and he just killed it for me. Actually, I can’t listen to any of The Black Eyed Peas’ songs anymore because he constantly sang them out loud. I lost all enjoyment. (If you are reading this, my friend, we are still homies though.)

“Pop” By NSYNC

There are many reasons why I don’t like this song. One of the obvious reasons is that I am a Backstreet Boys fan. The second reason is that this song was over played on the radio as well. One could argue that this song is revolutionary because it made a statement about pop music, and open the doors to what today’s music sounds like.

I would like to now talk about some of these lyrics:

It doesn’t matter
‘Bout the car I drive or
What I wear around my neck
All that matters
Is that you recognize
That it’s just about respect
It doesn’t matter
About the clothes I wear
And where I go and why
All that matters
Is that you get hyped and
We’ll do it to you every time
(Come on now)

—”Pop” (2001) NSYNC

Maybe at the early 2000s, it wasn’t all about the money and fame. However, I feel like in today’s pop music, it is all about the money and fame. Also the type of pop songs that are out today are a bit generic and unoriginal, but it still somehow gets to people such as me, and I admit I enjoy some of these pop songs. Anyways, these are just some thoughts I have about this song. Also, I don’t get why Justin Timberlake is beat-boxing at the end of the music video. Is that a little fan service? Some people can’t get enough of J.T.?

So these are just some of the songs that annoy me still to this point in time. I hope these songs don’t annoy you as much though. Happy Weekend!

  1. Aw. I have great memories of “Wake Me Up When September Ends”. It’s a song that one of my best friends gave me on my birthday long ago. I like “Love Me Like You Do”, but I keep hearing it everyday that it’s also starting to annoy me.
